The Blue Devils have opened as 21-point favorites on SBG Global Sportsbook’s Live NCAA Basketball Odds.
Western Michigan Broncos (5-7): The Broncos were picked to finish first in the Mid-American West division prior to the season, but after a disappointing 1-7 start, Western Michigan’s season looked to be lost. However, since losing to Detroit on Dec. 8, the Broncos have won four consecutive games by an average of 11 points. Mike Douglas leads the team in scoring with 14 points and three other players - Demetrius Ward, Matt Stainbrook and Flenard Whitfield - also score in double figures for Western Michigan, which shoots 42 percent from the field. One area the Broncos have struggled with is defense as they’ve allowed their opponent to score 70 or more points nine times.
Duke Blue Devils (10-1): Duke has one of the most balanced offenses in the country and has had five different players lead the team in scoring. Freshman sensation Austin Rivers leads the way with 15 points per game for the Blue Devils, who are one of seven teams in the nation that have five or more players averaging double figures. In the frontcourt, Mason Plumlee has been solid and leads the team in rebounds (11) and double-doubles (five). Defensively, Duke, which has won 41 straight home games, has held its opponent to fewer than 70 points in seven of its 11 contests, including all five home games.
1.
Duke has won 91 consecutive
non-conference home games. Its last lost came in an 83-82 defeat to St. John’s
on Feb. 26, 2000.
2. Western Michigan
is 6-0 all-time against current ACC opponents. However, the Broncos have never
played the Blue Devils.
3. Duke
has won five in a row against current MAC schools and is 7-1 all-time.
